How to shape your kids to become responsible and wise spenders

As  parents, we always want our kids to have a better future . We try to give them the best of everything in every way that we can. But as the saying goes, we should not always give them fish, we should teach them how to fish  and help them grow.

In this generation, kids are way more independent, curious, and witty. At their young age they already have their own goals in life and dreams that they wanted to achieve.

What can we do as parents to help and  make sure that our kids will become responsible and wise spenders as they get older?

Isn't it amazing if we can teach our kids on how to manage their finances at an early age?  This will allow them to have knowledge on how to unlock financial stability and value the money that they earn or save.

Here are some tips in helping and teaching our kids how to manage their finances.

1. Php 1.00 P5.00 P10.00 challenge

As young as 2 years old you can start teaching your kids about her/his financial journey as early as possible.
Giving them a small piggy bank where your child can save her extra Php 1.00, Php 5.00 and Php 10.00 from her school pocket money.
As days, months and years goes  your child will notice that they save up money.

Php 1.00 x 12 months = Php 365
Php 5.00 x 12 months = Php 1680
Php 10.00 x 12 months = Php 3720

2. Buy what you need, not what you want

Kids always needs guidance when it comes to what they need versus what they want. This is more of a result of what they usually see from friends or trends. This is one good reason that as early as now, we can teach them the value of money for them realize the importance of buying something as you need it since it will be worth the money that they have earned or saved.

3. Shape your kids to become a young investor
As parents  it is important that we guide them to their financial journey. Opening a bank account. Having their own personal saving account teaches kids to be more responsible and independent in managing their savings and finances.

Thank you momshie for this tips and information.. Very Useful talaga ang anak ko may piggy bank na siya binilihan ko last 2months na.. Ang problem hindi niya na man hinuhulugan. Thank you momshie sa magandang tip mo po at info about Rcbc bank

Thanks for these tips. Very useful and easy to implement. I agree that parents should give children financial education as early as possible. It’s hard to instill financial discipline in adults.

It's never too early to teach your kids about money and spending wisely. We don't have an account with RCBC yet, pero promising ang features ng accounts nila for kids. :)

I like the insurance part, but not the interest rate, ang liit. Pero if you just want to teach your kid to save then pwede na silang mag start dito :)

My daughter is a natural born kuripot so I'm quite lucky that I didn't have a hard time telling her to save money. And now that she's a teenager, she has this money she set aside for birthday/Christmas presents, money she for emergencies (unplanned lakwacha with friends), etc. Mejo weird, but it works.

My son and I keep a coin bank too and I have opened a bank account for him a long time ago. Currently looking for another bank to transfer his account since I'm no longer happy with his current one. I'll have to check out RCBC, sounds good to me.
I'm curious, how much is the worth of comprehensive insurance RCBC is offering?

Good to know that there are many banks offering savings accounts for kids. I have also opened one for my daughter 2 years ago, will definitely check on this for my next baby.

Oh this I will try with my children esp the point number 1. Although they have Kiddie Saver accounts, they're not aware.

I really need this for my kids. They only save money here at home and ending, they scatter it everywhere and napaglalaruan. I want them to learn the value of every penny and hindi dahil they could get it easily from us.

Tigdas/Measles: Mga Sintomas, Pagkain at Lunas

Dengue is Real, Keep Your Child Safe with OFF! Lotion

Our Family is always our top priority. It was September of 2015 when my daughter was hospitalized and turned out to be positive for Dengue, as a mom I was so scared. Nurses always come in to our room every 6 hours to get blood sample from my daughter for them to monitor her platelet count.  It was an unpleasant sight for me to see my daughter in that condition at her young age. When my daughter cries due to the pain of needle inserted to her skin, it was a more painful scene and sound for me, wishing that all of what I see and hear are not real, it was really heart breaking. It was that same month in which Dengue case was really prominent and a lot of kids are being rushed to the same hospital to be treated, we stayed in the hospital for more than a week for my daughter's recovery and since then, I always said to my self "Never Again" that I will allow this to happen and was thankful to God that she guided my daughter Before our stay in the ho...
