I can still remember when I was a kid, when I visit our relatives during the Christmas vacation, I can see all their preparations from changing the curtains to a new one, new table cloth, place mats, and even door mats just to prepare for the expected visitors, no wonder us Filipinos has been tagged as very hospitable. So when I grew up, this kind of custom is something that I inherited from all of my relatives and family members,I make sure that the house is clean, all curtains are newly washed or replaced, so as table cloths and door mats, so whenever my dearest relatives and closest friends drop by, they can be welcomed with a fresh ambiance.
