SMPF Kids Kitchen Camp: Enhancing Skills of Young Cooking Enthusiasts

Cooking is more than a passion for me, it is my way showing my love for my family and the people I care for, the joy of seeing someone satisfied with the food I cook is fulfillment for me. These are the same things that I try to pass to my daughter every time I teach her how to cook.

At her young age, she already has the basic skills for cooking and can already distinguish ingredients and dishes that are appealing to her taste.

Aside from teaching her, I give her the opportunity to enhance her skills by going into some classes, and last May 3, 2019, at the 28‘" floor Kitchen Studio of the Makati Diamond Residences (MDR), little chefs-in-the-making got their hands busy at the Kids Kitchen Camp organized by the San Miguel Pure Foods (SMPF) Culinary Center in collaboration with Makati Diamond Residences. On its 24" year.

The annual activity of SMPF Culinary Center aims to instill love and appreciation for food and cooking while introducing various SMPF products that can help in preparation ease and enhance skills of young budding cooking enthusiasts.
"If kids are much more involved in food preparation, then they truly get encouraged to eat more, which promote: good nutrition, plus they learn' cooking early, a very important life skill,” says Llena Tan-Arcenas, the Culinary Services Manager of San Miguel Pure Foods.

This year, our little chefs were taught how to prepare 5 scrumptious yet kid-friendly recipes such as Nachos Afritada using Purefoods Chicken Afritada and Magnolia Cheddar Cheese, Pulled Pork Tacos made from Purefoods Pulled Pork BBQ Pinoy Style and Magnolia Cheezee Squeeze, Quick Meaty Spaghetti using Dari Creme, Monterey Ground Pork, Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs Jumbo and Magnolia Cheezee, Flower Pot Cakes made from Magnolia Devil’s Food Cake, La Pacita Graham Crackers, Magnolia Cream Cheese and Magnolia All Purpose Cream and the classic Chicken Tinola simplified by using Magnolia 3-way Chicken Cinger-Based.

These recipes were enjoyed together with Magnolia Chocolait and La Pacita Oat Cookies served as snacks. The fun and talented chefs of SMPF Culinary Center under the supervision of Pamela ‘chef Pam‘ Obieta together with MDR chefs conducted the event.

While the my Chelsea and the other little chefs  were busy, I was  able to document the whole event and enjoyed delicious snacks especially prepared by MDR, which induced Arroz Caldo made from Magnolia 3-Way Chicken Ginger-Based and Chicken and Pulled Pork Pie using Magnolia Chicken and Purefoods Pulled Pork BBQ Pinoy Style.

Dengue is Real, Keep Your Child Safe with OFF! Lotion

Our Family is always our top priority. It was September of 2015 when my daughter was hospitalized and turned out to be positive for Dengue, as a mom I was so scared. Nurses always come in to our room every 6 hours to get blood sample from my daughter for them to monitor her platelet count.  It was an unpleasant sight for me to see my daughter in that condition at her young age. When my daughter cries due to the pain of needle inserted to her skin, it was a more painful scene and sound for me, wishing that all of what I see and hear are not real, it was really heart breaking. It was that same month in which Dengue case was really prominent and a lot of kids are being rushed to the same hospital to be treated, we stayed in the hospital for more than a week for my daughter's recovery and since then, I always said to my self "Never Again" that I will allow this to happen and was thankful to God that she guided my daughter Before our stay in the ho...
