FWD Life Philippines, one of the fastest-growing insurance company here in the Philippines launched its new campaign " Blaze a Trail in the Arctic " in line with the world's coolest marathon the FWD North Pole Marathon 2018. This marathon was recognized by The Guinness World Records as the "Northernmost Marathon on Earth"
FWD will sponsor ten runners from Asian countries like Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, and Vietnam that will take on the extreme challenges and make this as one of their life experience to show their passion and determination. Runners will traverse the 42- kilometer path with an average of -30 degrees centigrade, which will definitely test their will and determination.
Louie Sangalang will be representing the Philippines for the FWD North Pole Marathon 2018. He is a multi-sport athlete who do mixed-martial arts, boxing and triathlons. He is also a proud cancer survivor. Mr. Sangalang was diagnosed with cancer of the appendix when he was only 21 years old. Instead of giving up, Sangalan turned to sports and successfully bounced back.
"I want to inspire my fellow Filipino with my story. This is why I'm running. I want them to feel empowered, that despite the many challenges in life throws, you can come back better and stronger with the right attitude" said Sangalang
Going to a place like the North Pole, a person should be ready their mind and their body, with this in mind. FWD formed a squad that will help and support Sangalang in his mental, physical, and emotional preparations.
Sam YG, host and a sports enthusiast, and a man with great sense of humor will help Sangalang make his rigorous training less stressful and fun.
Maricel Laxa- Pangilinan and Benjamin Pangilinan will be the one who will provide Louie the emotional support that he will need.
Romi Garduce, an experienced and well known Filipino mountain climber who successfully completed his Mt.Everest climb will share his insights and tips on how to survive in extreme weather condition.
Ani de Leon- Brown a triathlon icon, will collaborate with his personal trainer and coach Ige Lopez for Sangalang's Physical preparedness.
FWD Life Philippines will provide Mr. Louie Sangalang with an insurance protection for a worry-free North Pole Marathon this year.
Sangalang was chosen to be the FWD Philippines representative because of his resilence in overcoming life's challenges which is one of the Filipinos traits. Truly, Sangalang is a great inspiration to many Filipinos who are also battling cancer who are already losing their hopes. He will surely inspire more Filipinos to continue and chose to have a healthy and active lifestyle.
