Year 2 of Tinapay Natin Pinoy Bread Baking Competition




As i grew up, bread is one of the staple food in our home. Bread is present in every occasions.  Even Max's Corner bakery and Max's Restaurant the first meal they offered was fried chicken with dinner rolls.


Every bread that comes out from the oven has its own story to tell. If you remember the 2016 Tinapay Natin Pinoy Bread Baking Competition  Bread winners. The two young individuals share the unique story of their bread creations. Their winning bread is now available in Max's Corner Bakery.
With this in mind Mr .Ariel P. Fermin , COO of Max's Corner Bakery and Max's Restaurant  and Mr. Tristan Aboitiz. Vice President and COO of Pilmico likes to know more of the many stories that go with each bread product. They are inviting again students bakers and passionate home bakers all over the Philippines  to create a beloved traditional bread and add their own twist to Pinoy favorites with their version of modern breads

Cash prizes will be awarded to the participants with the most compelling bread stories and entries. 2017 Tinapay Natin will be running from July  to October 2017. Regional bake-offs happening in Baguio, Bacolod, and Davao. The Grand Finals will be held in Metro Manila on  November and the winning bread entry will be available in Max's corner bakery nationwide as limited time offering.




HOW TO JOIN THE 2017 Tinapay Natin Pinoy Bread Making Competition

  1. GENERAL MECHANICS
1.1 This competition is open to all Filipino citizens or legal residents of the Republic of the Philippines, ages 18 years old and above.
1.2 . Each team will be comprised of two members, who may represent a school; or bread baking hobbyists or enthusiasts, but not representing a commercial establishment. If the team will represent a school, a letter of endorsement from the participants’ school, duly endorsed by the Dean, Principal or Head of Student Affairs, will be required. In all other cases, a government-issued ID will be required.
1.3 To join the TinapayNatin Pinoy Bread Baking Competition 2017, each team must:
Fill out Entry Form <http://bit.ly/TNEntryForm> containing:
  • Personal Information
  • Bread Story
  • A regional bread recipe representative of a local community/province/region; and
  • A “traditional with a modern twist” bread recipe.
* Bread recipes should take into consideration a 4-hour time limit, from preparation to baking.
** Recipes must be written in the format provided by the Organizing Committee. It must indicate the weights and volume (metric system ONLY) of the ingredients as well as the method of preparation and batch yield.
*** Photos of your Bread Recipes must be sent to tinapaynatin2017@gmail.com. With filename format PARTICIPANT’S NAME-RECIPE NAME (Ex: JuandelaCruz-Ube Roll.jpg)
1.4 Deadline of Entry Forms will be on or before September 15, 2017. For more information, you can visit us at our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/TinapayNatin/.
1.5 All entries will be screened by the Organizing Committee. The entries with the most compelling stories, following the proper format and guidelines will be chosen to participate. Only 12 teams from each region – Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, will be chosen to join the live regional elimination rounds which will be held on the following dates:
  • Mindanao Elimination Round (Davao - September 30, 2017);
  • Visayas Elimination Round (Bacolod - October 6, 2017); and
  • Luzon Elimination Round (Baguio - October 14, 2017).
1.6 . The top two winning teams for each regional elimination round will be awarded gift certificates by Max’s Restaurant.
1.7 . The six winning teams from the elimination rounds will advance to the Tinapay Natin Grand National Finals which will be held in Manila on November 16, 2017.
1.8 . There will be three winners during the Tinapay Natin Grand National Finals namely: first, second and third place. Cash prizes, trophy, medals and certificates will be awarded to the winners. The grand winner will have their breads featured and sold in Max's Corner Bakery outlets nationwide.

A quick trip down holiday memory lane

  Can you feel it? The cold breeze, holiday songs, festive decorations, and colorful lights and lanterns… it’s Christmas season, everybody! Filipinos are known to celebrate Christmas the longest – it starts with the BER months and ends in January. Along with parties and get-togethers, we also have different traditions to celebrate the yuletide season. Since I was a kid, I associated grapes and round fruits with the holiday season. My grandma used to buy a lot of grapes during the BER months and placed them on our table along with other fruits.
