Nearly 6 in 10 Filipino Families Rely on Water Refilling Stations as Drinking-Water Habits Come Into Focus

Vince Ngo, President and Managing Director of Visionary
Grand Corp., the company behind PUREAL Philippines, champions the use of modern
water filtration technology to empower Filipino households and businesses to
make informed choices about their drinking water. Through accessible and
practical water purification solutions, he aims to give Filipinos greater
convenience, confidence, and control over their everyday drinking-water needs.

With 57.9% of Filipino
families obtaining drinking water from refilling stations, PUREAL Philippines President Vince Ngo
shares how everyday experiences in South Korea inspired a more convenient
approach to drinking water at home and at work.
MANILA, Philippines, October
20, 2026 — For many Filipino households, drinking water comes with a
familiar routine: ordering refills, waiting for deliveries, and finding space
for water containers. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority's (PSA) Annual
Poverty Indicators Survey, 57.9% of Filipino families obtained their
drinking water from refilling stations, a sign of how deeply this practice is
embedded in everyday life.
The finding raises a
practical question: as Filipino households look for more convenient ways to
manage daily life, could the way they access drinking water evolve, too?
Refilling stations remain an
important source of drinking water, but household needs differ depending on
delivery availability, storage space, water quality, and reliability. Directly
connected filtration systems may offer another option for homes and businesses
with a suitable incoming water supply.
What the 57.9% Figure Does and Doesn't Mean
The PSA survey identifies where
families obtain drinking water; it does not establish whether those sources are
safe or unsafe.
Separately, the PSA tracks access
to safely managed drinking-water services, which considers availability,
accessibility on premises, and freedom from contamination. These are distinct
measures, and the 57.9% figure should not be interpreted as a measure of water
safety.
For Vince Ngo, President and
Managing Director of Visionary Grand Corp., the company behind PUREAL
Philippines, the opportunity is to make drinking water simpler to manage. His
interest is personal: after seeing water purifiers become an ordinary part of
daily life in South Korea, he and his sister Venice began considering how the
same convenience could work for Filipino homes and businesses.
“When we talk about water
security, it's not just about having water available. It's also about knowing
whether that water is suitable for drinking and whether families can access it
consistently and conveniently. These are everyday concerns for Filipino
households, and we believe families should have more practical options to
address them,” Ngo said.
Beyond the Refill: How Filipino Households Manage Drinking Water
For households that depend on
refills, keeping drinking water available can involve monitoring supplies and
coordinating deliveries. The experience differs by location, family size, and
storage capacity.
For smaller homes and busy
households, reducing the need to handle and store containers may be appealing.
Still, convenience is only one consideration alongside water quality,
maintenance, and total cost.
Ngo believes households should
consider the effort involved in maintaining their drinking-water supply, not
just the price of each refill.
“The cost of drinking water
is not just what a family pays per refill. There is also the time spent
arranging deliveries, the space needed for containers, and the responsibility
of keeping water on hand. Those everyday demands deserve attention, alongside
water quality and the full cost of any alternative,” he explained.
Bringing Korean Water Purification Technology to Filipino Homes

Filipino households and businesses to make informed choices about their
drinking water. Through modern water filtration technology, they aim to make
access to clean, safe, and convenient drinking water more practical and
accessible, giving Filipinos greater control over their everyday water needs.

Vince and Venice Ngo first
encountered the convenience of water purification systems during visits to
South Korea, where purifiers were integrated into hotels, cafés, and other
everyday spaces. They began asking whether the same approach could work in Filipino
homes and businesses. Back in the Philippines, the siblings saw an opportunity
to make directly connected filtration a more familiar household option.
“Whenever Venice and I
traveled to Korea, we noticed how naturally water purifiers were integrated
into everyday spaces. It was such a simple convenience, yet it made us wonder
why more Filipinos couldn't enjoy the same thing in their own homes and workplaces.
We experienced that ease abroad, and we wanted to bring it home,” Ngo shared.
That experience eventually
inspired the siblings to bring PUREAL to the Philippine market through
Visionary Grand Corp. Combining Korean water filtration technology with
compact, modern design, PUREAL Philippines
aims to make water purification a more practical part of Filipino homes,
condominiums, cafés, restaurants, and workplaces.
How Modern Filtration Fits Everyday Filipino Routines
Water purifiers differ in how
they treat and dispense water. Some powered systems heat or chill water, while
other models dispense filtered water at ambient temperature without
electricity.
PUREAL's
Direct, Mini Changer, and Line Changer collections use tankless,
direct-flow filtration technology that connects to a suitable incoming
water supply. Unlike powered hot-and-cold dispensers, these three models
provide ambient-temperature filtered water without requiring electricity.
They are also designed with user-replaceable filters, allowing customers
to perform routine filter changes without scheduling a technician.
The featured models still
require periodic filter changes. Consumers should consider the purchase price,
installation, replacement filters, and other maintenance costs when comparing
options.
Importantly, buyers should
confirm that their incoming water source, water pressure, and installation
setup are compatible with the chosen system. No single filtration system is
suitable for every water source.
Convenience at Home and in Everyday Spaces
For households with limited
storage or busy schedules, directly connected filtration can reduce the need to
manage refill containers, provided an appropriate incoming water supply is
available. PUREAL's featured tankless models filter water as it is dispensed,
subject to sufficient incoming water supply and pressure.
Because the featured models do
not require electricity, they may continue dispensing filtered water during
power interruptions if the incoming water supply remains available. They cannot
dispense water during a water-supply interruption, so households should still
keep emergency drinking water.
The same emphasis on everyday
access extends to commercial spaces. Through PUREAL
Partners, the company has introduced purification systems at establishments
including 717 Deli, Three Dots, Hackensack, and Jabroni's.
Building Confidence in Everyday Drinking-Water Choices
As drinking-water options
expand, Ngo sees an opportunity to help consumers better understand which
systems fit their homes, water sources, and routines. Refilling stations,
bottled water, and home filtration can continue to serve different household
needs. The right choice depends on water quality, supply reliability,
convenience, and long-term upkeep.
For PUREAL, the opportunity
extends beyond introducing new devices to helping consumers make informed
decisions about filtration and maintenance. Visionary Grand Corp. plans to
expand PUREAL's presence in Philippine homes and commercial spaces while developing
consumer education and local after-sales support.
“For years, many Filipino
households have relied on buying, collecting, or having drinking water
delivered. We believe there is an opportunity to rethink that routine as more
filtration options become available. Our goal is not simply to introduce another
water purifier, but to help Filipinos see that accessing drinking water can be
more convenient and integrated into everyday life. Whether at home, in cafés,
or in workplaces, we hope to make filtered drinking water a more familiar and
accessible option, much like what we have experienced in Korea,” Ngo said.
For Filipino households, the
question is not whether one drinking-water source should replace another, but
whether their current routine still meets their needs.
