3 Important Reasons Why You Should Save Money

Whenever payday arrives, almost all of us becomes a one-day-millionaire, we buy what we want, what we need and pay what we need to pay with our hard-earned money.  That is one reason why most of us live by payday to payday.

It is rewarding to get the gadget that you aim for or fulfill that vacation that you have been planning for a year or those cool sneakers whom you've saved money for months in your trusty piggy bank.

But while self-reward is vital, some tend to overdo this at the expense of the need to save.

You don't need to attend seminars or become a financial advisor for you to know the importance of saving for your future and whatever unexpected, while it seems that we only have enough money to get by every payday, it does not hurt to sacrifices a few our "wants" to save for what we need and gain financial freedom.

A Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas survey on consumer expectations for the first quarter of 2019 showed that only 36.6 percent of Filipino households have savings.

This means 63.4 percent of Filipino households do not. Add to this, too, that as of 2017, only 22.6 percent of Filipino adults had formal financial accounts (bank, e-Money, microfinance, cooperatives), and the rest remain unbanked, according to BSP’s Financial Inclusion Survey that year.

With the rise of financial technology, new platforms have emerged to provide ease not just in payments but also in saving. Leading mobile wallet GCash is encouraging its users to save more: deposit at least P1 peso for the first time in your GSave account and get a share from a pot of P2 million.

So why save? It’s rewarding! Here are some reasons why:

1. PEACE OF MIND

Having spare money is vital in having a feeling of security in case of an emergency. Scrounging for cash in the middle of an unexpected event is highly stressful, so building savings as an emergency fund is important.

2. SEED MONEY FOR HIGH-YIELD INVESTMENTS

With consistency, savings reach a certain level over time that it could serve as seed money for investments with high returns, such as stocks, bonds or mutual funds.

3. INCREASED HAPPINESS

Having savings mean freedom from financial uncertainty and insecurity, and this ultimately leads to increased happiness, according to a 2013 survey by Ally Bank of the United States. Respondents in the survey said having spare money in the bank enhanced their well being even more than having a good job, doing regular exercise, or having a healthy meal.

So how about starting your savings? Start with just a peso. It will go a long way.

Dengue is Real, Keep Your Child Safe with OFF! Lotion

Our Family is always our top priority. It was September of 2015 when my daughter was hospitalized and turned out to be positive for Dengue, as a mom I was so scared. Nurses always come in to our room every 6 hours to get blood sample from my daughter for them to monitor her platelet count.  It was an unpleasant sight for me to see my daughter in that condition at her young age. When my daughter cries due to the pain of needle inserted to her skin, it was a more painful scene and sound for me, wishing that all of what I see and hear are not real, it was really heart breaking. It was that same month in which Dengue case was really prominent and a lot of kids are being rushed to the same hospital to be treated, we stayed in the hospital for more than a week for my daughter's recovery and since then, I always said to my self "Never Again" that I will allow this to happen and was thankful to God that she guided my daughter Before our stay in the ho...
