Why Potatoes Are Good for Pregnant Moms

Nutrition is very important for everyone, especially for soon-to-be moms. When I was pregnant, I was very conscious of my baby’s health and safety in my tummy. And I’m sure us parents agree that dietary and lifestyle choices have a great impact on the health of babies.

During pregnancy, you are not the only one who is eating, the baby in your tummy also eats with you. You need to consume enough vitamins and minerals to meet your daily dietary needs. And it goes without saying that you need to munch on healthy and nutritious food, not just anything you feel like eating.

When I was pregnant, I refrained from eating rice and replaced it with fruits and vegetables, eating hard boiled eggs and boiled potatoes really helped me out, too. Yes, potatoes!
My doctor told me that potatoes are rich in potassium. Would you believe it has more potassium than a banana?  Also, a medium size potato (5.2 oz) with skin on only has 110 calories. Combine that with some eggs and fruits and you got yourself a complete meal.

Potatoes also have no fat, sodium or cholesterol. They’ve got loads of vitamin C and B-6, plus iron and fiber which help digestion and lower blood cholesterol. Potatoes are also high in folate, which is important in pregnancy for normal fetal brain and spinal cord development. Folate is needed for the development of DNA and other genetic material.

As your baby grows, he or she will gain energy in your womb through glucose. This may explain why your blood sugar levels may drop and cravings for starchy food begin. Potatoes are a convenient and delicious way to answer those cravings and will make you feel fuller faster.
Keep in mind, though, that balance is key. Pregnancy nutrition is a careful practice.  Eating right, especially during pregnancy, entails not just consuming the right foods, but the right amounts prepared the right way.

Now there’s more to potatoes than being fried and mashed. You can create a variety of dishes with the trusty potato. You can include them in your salad or even make them as base of your soup! You can find a lot of delicious recipes at the Potato Goodness website.

High quality U.S. potatoes can be purchased from major supermarkets and groceries nationwide.  For more information on US potatoes, you can get in touch with the local Potatoes USA-Philippines office at +632.534.8534 and info@synergyasia.biz.

Dengue is Real, Keep Your Child Safe with OFF! Lotion

Our Family is always our top priority. It was September of 2015 when my daughter was hospitalized and turned out to be positive for Dengue, as a mom I was so scared. Nurses always come in to our room every 6 hours to get blood sample from my daughter for them to monitor her platelet count.  It was an unpleasant sight for me to see my daughter in that condition at her young age. When my daughter cries due to the pain of needle inserted to her skin, it was a more painful scene and sound for me, wishing that all of what I see and hear are not real, it was really heart breaking. It was that same month in which Dengue case was really prominent and a lot of kids are being rushed to the same hospital to be treated, we stayed in the hospital for more than a week for my daughter's recovery and since then, I always said to my self "Never Again" that I will allow this to happen and was thankful to God that she guided my daughter Before our stay in the ho...
