5 Ways to Create The Most Meaningful Summer for your child

School year is about to end, so aside from the long awaited vacation of our kids, we as parents always wanted to make sure that our kids will have a meaningful summer vacation. When I was a kid I remember freely running in our backyard and playing with other kids and that is where I develop my social skills and exercise my sportsmanship in different games that we played. The entire duration of my vacation during my childhood were spent in playing with friends outdoor, household chores, visiting my cousins or relatives who lived far from us and ofcourse watch my grandmother cook our favorite dishes for me to learn her craft. Generation may pass but kids nowadays still need to develop their skills, hobbies, socialize and enhance whatever talent they may have, so aside from going to the beach or spending the whole day in front of the computer it would help if we introduce our kids in other activities that they can unleash their hidden talents and at the same time help them improve

What do married men want for Valentine’s?

The typical Valentine’s day includes flowers, chocolates, teddy bears, heartfelt love letters and surprises – all efforts were mostly from a man, given to a very lucky woman. On the contrary, in Korea, women are the ones giving chocolates to men as a sign of love. Traditionally, men that receive these gifts will then give a gift in return on the following month to which they call “White Day”. This is a perfect way to let your man know that they too are indeed important on Valentine’s day. This year, I decided to mimic this Korean tradition and asked married men on what they want to receive for Valentine’s day. Here’s what they had to say: #8. Stove, cook set, tarp, sleeping pad – This sporty hubby is always on the go and is into mountain climbing. He and his wife always make sure to climb mountains at least once a month. Nothing is more blissful than awesome mountaineering stuff while enjoying the stars with your loved one. #7. Crafting supplies – This daddy is into ha

PROMAMA® unveils Baby’s First Gift to You

If there is one gift that any woman would definitely cherish, then that would be the gift of motherhood. Not everyone has the opportunity to experience this so it should be a reason why we should be thankful for it. Same reason why I was so excited to attend a recent event in Makati City last January 22, 2019, for the Wyeth® PROMAMA® unveiling the "Baby’s First Gift to You", an event that aims to provide expectant moms a gift like no other. An experience that allows her to see a real-time first gift ever from her baby. The Baby’s First Gift to you device detects the movement of the babies in the womb and translates it into an artwork. “Expectant moms would be surprised to know that the baby’s brain is up to 25 percent developed already, by 28 weeks. By using the Baby’s First Gift technology, moms will be amazed by their baby’s development while in the womb since they will see how their baby’s movement can create artworks, uniquely created just for them,” said Ms. Jo

Making reunions REAL again

Filipinos are all about family. The mandatory family reunion happens not just once or twice a year, but every chance possible. From Birthdays to graduations all the way to the grand Christmas reunion, family gatherings are always filled with food, catching up, and loads of wholesome family fun. Lately, we’ve seen many changes in traditional family dynamics — from a simple meal to dance numbers by the grandkids. Families are reaching out to friends and relatives abroad through technology. While technology can be used to connect people, it can also become a wall between family members. How many times have you walked into a room and you are ignored by everyone hooked on their gadgets? This is the reality that has become the new norm. The simple act of truly connecting has become a valuable commodity that needs to be safeguarded by everyone in the family. This Holiday season, a brand has decided to take action to advocate for real connections. It’s not asking you to completely

How will I confidently #Spread100Hugs this Holiday Season

We Filipinos really love the Christmas season, more than the food and the celebration, one of the anticipated moments that we are looking forward is to be with our family and loved ones spend time with them after a long year of work or being away. I can still remember when I was a kid, when I visit our relatives during the Christmas vacation, I can see all their preparations from changing the curtains to a new one, new table cloth, place mats, and even door mats just to prepare for the expected visitors, no wonder us Filipinos has been tagged as very hospitable. So when I grew up, this kind of custom is something that I inherited from all of my relatives and family members,I make sure that the house is clean, all curtains are newly washed or replaced, so as table cloths and door mats, so whenever my dearest relatives and closest friends drop by, they can be welcomed with a fresh ambiance. Every year, whenever the holiday season comes, unexpected things happens, like

Why Potatoes Are Good for Pregnant Moms

Nutrition is very important for everyone, especially for soon-to-be moms. When I was pregnant, I was very conscious of my baby’s health and safety in my tummy. And I’m sure us parents agree that dietary and lifestyle choices have a great impact on the health of babies. During pregnancy, you are not the only one who is eating, the baby in your tummy also eats with you. You need to consume enough vitamins and minerals to meet your daily dietary needs. And it goes without saying that you need to munch on healthy and nutritious food, not just anything you feel like eating. When I was pregnant, I refrained from eating rice and replaced it with fruits and vegetables, eating hard boiled eggs and boiled potatoes really helped me out, too. Yes, potatoes! My doctor told me that potatoes are rich in potassium. Would you believe it has more potassium than a banana?  Also, a medium size potato (5.2 oz) with skin on only has 110 calories. Combine that with some eggs and fruits and yo

Nido 3+/5+ empowers parents to say Yes and Let Go!

Is it ok for us parents to be overprotective to our kids? Being protective of your is a child is natural for parents especially for mother's. But I've read that being too overprotected can cause more harm to the child, it increases the child anxiety when they are not allowed to overcome their fear. Honestly, I'm one of the so-called "helicopter mom", I really pay close attention to my children, their problems, emotion, and experiences. I usually say " No" to the things or situation that they might get hurt emotionally and physically. I'm not allowing them to face their fear, learn and enjoy what usually kids love to do. With this being said, I noticed my daughter becoming a little bit aloof and unexpressive when it comes to her emotions and that is the reason that I allowed her to learn things on her own way with proper guidance, and that really turned things around. Like children, parents also should learn to say Yes and Let Go! This is w

A Mommy Forum for a Mother-Baby Friendly Philippines

Mommies unite for an afternoon to support and promote breastfeeding in the country I admire mommies that still breastfeed their child until the age of 2 years old either in public or in private breastfeeding rooms.  Breastfeeding may be considered a challenging phase of motherhood but the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of breastfeeding for mothers and babies truly make the journey worthwhile. While more and more mothers recognize that breastmilk will always be superior compared to formula milk, there is still a need to spread awareness on its benefits and to encourage people to support breastfeeding. In response to the global campaign of protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding, World Vision Development Foundation, in partnership with the Department of Health, launched Mother-Baby Friendly Philippines. This two-year project aims to:  1. Support and strengthen the implementation of Executive Order 51 (The Philippine Milk Code of 1986), Republic Act 76

Goya Double Hazelnut Snack and Dessert Ideas

As a mom, one of the things that I have encountered with my daughter as she grows is being picky with what she ate. It was not easy and since I need to consider her health and nutrition I can not just give in to giving her what my daughter only wanted.I knew then that I needed to make a smart choice of giving her something that she will like and enjoy. Recently I was invited to an intimate event by Goya with my co-mommies and together with celebrity moms Camille Pratts and Kelly Misa and well-known hairstylist and makeup guru, Lourd Ramos.  I knew that this is the end for my quest in looking for smart choices in life, in the event they all shared their experiences in life and the smart choices that they have made to excel as a person, mom and a business owner. Together with fellow mommies who enjoyed and always choose the smart choice and decision not only in life but also with family.
