Busan Kitchen offers exceptionally crafted Korean dishes

With Hallyu (Korean Wave) being at its peak in our country, a lot of us are getting hooked on learning the Korean culture especially their food and cuisine. No wonder why Korean restaurants offering authentic Korean cuisines started to show up all over the Metro.

For the past few years, I have tried a lot of these restaurants offering Korean food, and there is only a handful of them have given me the satisfaction for the authentic Korean taste that I was looking for.

Just recently I found a hidden gem for authentic Korean dishes in the Metro. "Busan Kitchen", the name itself speaks of their humble beginning, using only the authentic Korean ingredients, the freshest meats, and vegetables. Their menu is savory, fresh, and one-of-a-kind.

Their mouth-watering and savory dishes were delivered on our doorstep, and We were able to try the following:

Samgyeopsal Set
A meal set packed with flavor and color, with the meat perfectly grilled which you can heartily enjoy when wrapped in …

CBIG: Protecting the Unsung Heroes of COVID-19

During the duration of the lockdown period because of COVID-19, We realized a lot of things in our life, we've also learned to make the most of what we have and to adjust ourselves to the "new normal". It was a perfect example of an event in our life where we've been caught off guard since almost all of the access that we have to the outside world has been limited that even the ability to buy groceries and personal needs has been a luxury.

While the whole Metro Manila is being quarantined, few brave souls came out to aid their fellow Filipinos in delivering their needs during the entire duration of the quarantine while risking their health to support their families while their regular jobs have been halted. These are the brave Delivery Riders, the unsung heroes that served as a bridge for us to buy what we need while we are in the comfort of our own homes.

Imagine the risk that they are facing every time they are on the road, with that in mind is the reason why Coun…

Piolo Pascual's funny videos help OFs mental burden

Being away from your family and loved-ones brings unimaginable sadness. Imagine this struggle that our OFW's need to face every day as they perform their duties in different countries missing every event with their families.

I still remember when I was an OFW in Hong Kong, despite my everyday struggle in missing my family, I always think of their future and that makes me stronger. Providing them what they need and sending money to my loved ones back in the Philippines gives me satisfaction from all the sacrifices I made abroad, and of course, sending the hard-earned money requires a trusted remittance partner where I can ensure that my family will receive it safely, and that's where BDO partner establishment helped me.

Experts in the Philippines and other countries have been warning us: along with the wave of COVID-19 infections would be a wave of mental illness. There’s no avoiding that: people are anxious, afraid, and many have lost jobs and face an uncertain future.

BDO Prioritizing health of repatriated OFW at PITX

PRIORITIZING HEALTH.
Repatriated overseas Filipinos at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) receive hygiene kits before they go back home to their respective provinces.

In coordination with BDO Foundation, BDO Remit turned over hundreds of bags of hygiene kits to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 and the PITX, which were then distributed to overseas Filipinos who were sent back here due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The repatriated overseas Filipinos, who have already tested negative in the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and completed their required quarantine period, were then transported back to their home provinces thru the assistance of OWWA.

Sweet & Strong Red Ribbon Dads: Paul, Doug, and Drew talk about fatherhood during quarantine

It doesn’t come as a surprise that many people rely on the strength of their fathers as the heads of the family.  Some fathers may be goofy, and some may be quiet, but one thing is for sure – dads have that natural ability to bring out the warmest smiles and unyielding courage in everybody within the family.

And as we navigate through this trying time, we see our dads carrying on and exhibiting incomparable strength. While their guidance has allowed everyone to remain safe, their sweetness and lighthearted humor have kept the family hopeful and optimistic.

This situation is no different for our Red Ribbon dad ambassadors, Doug Kramer, Paul Soriano and Drew Arellano, who by their time spent indoors allowed them to cement their position as the steadfast pillars of their families, all while keeping a cheerful and cared-for household.

Doug Kramer has been spending much of his time as a parent recently, with him retiring from PBA November 2019, and his kids home-schooling for the past thr…

3 Tips to turn newbies into supermarket pros in the new normal

Every once in a while, we’ll be pushed to do things we don’t normally do. For some of us, going to do the groceries is something that’s way outside our comfort zones. It’s true—the reality is there will be people, who are totally clueless when it comes to buying groceries. But that’s okay, it’s nothing to be ashamed about, as everyone can always learn something new and get better at it.
What’s most important when it comes to buying groceries, especially during this pandemic, is making the most out of your grocery trips. You’ll want to be in and out of the store as fast as you can like a real supermarket pro in order to avoid risks to yourself and your family.

Here are some tips to help you be a better grocery shopper in the new normal:

1.Write down a carefully planned grocery list
To make the most out of each grocery trip, you’ll have to step up your planning. That means estimating what you’ll need to buy and how much of it you’ll need to buy (within your budget, of course) in order to…

Erin's Place offers authentic Filipino dishes at reasonable price

Spending time for your with the people you love is priceless, during this pandemic we've learned the value of our family more than anything, we had the chance to share stories with them, play with them, and enjoy the meal as a whole.

It was indeed one of the good things that happened despite the lockdown. Although we weren't able to go out and eat at our favorite restaurants with them or buy the best ingredients to prepare them a delicious home-cooked meal, still we become resourceful to give them a decent meal.

With almost all business closed during the ECQ period, we've missed a lot of good food and home cooking, It was fortunate that deliveries are still available for some restaurants. Erin's Place is one of the restaurants that offered delivery of their signature meals that will give you the home-cooked feeling at sulit ulam in a reasonable price.

It was Saturday lunch and we decided to try their best sellers to avoid the hassle of food preparation that day, we ha…

LG gives support to our Frontliners in the battle against COVID-19

"Malasakit" is one of the best Filipino traits that spread throughout the country during the community quarantine. Everyone tried to help our fellow Filipinos especially our brave Frontliners in their little ways to show their gratitude and support for them, it was more contagious than the virus itself in a positive way that people from all walks of life contributed and even big companies exerted wonderful efforts to help.Among our Frontliners, our nurses, doctors, and other medical practitioners were the one fighting face to face with the virus and risking their lives to give hope to the patients that have been infected by COVID-19, but more than the salutes and praises, they needed equipment and support to carry on their mission to save more lives.
This is why LG Philippines has made its mission to support the Frontliners combatting the COVID-19 pandemic in any way they can. The technology innovating company has been actively taking part in relief operations geared towards …

The Childhood Immunization is Important during the pandemic

The stage of infancy to childhood is a very critical stage. Their immune system is not yet fully developed until 2-3 months. Babies produce antibodies when they are become exposed to viruses. It is important to boost the baby's immune system and to protect them from diseases, illness, and other infections by making sure that they have complete vaccination.
As a parent, if asked of what makes us happy, we can simply and wholeheartedly answer that it would be our kids. We always want the best for them and see them grow healthy and away from sickness.
Vaccination can protect our child from deadly diseases like Measles, Polio Hepatitis B, Tetanus, and Pneumonia which is now the number one killer disease among children age 0-5 years old. The vaccine in a child's body builds up antibodies to protect them from getting the diseases. This is also a way to reduce the spread of diseases.
Parents can avail the free vaccination in all public health centers nationwide. The vaccine-preventable …

Frontliners, the new name for heroes

With more than 1,500 positive cases in our country and more than 70 deaths as in writing, Covid-19 has taken a toll on our fellow Filipino's health and livelihood. It is like facing an invisible enemy that needs to be contained immediately to prevent more damage.

A lot of countries took preventive measures to prevent the virus from infecting everyone, our government also implemented Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to the whole country for 30 days to avoid local transmission, a lot of us are forced to stay at home, almost all of us needed to stop our normal daily routines to limit contact to avoid and lessen the cases of Covid-19 in our country.

I felt afraid for my family and loved ones and myself. I don't want them to catch the virus and I believe we have the same feelings for all the people that are important for us, especially the virus has not spared even the lives of the doctors and nurses who are treating the sick.

Amid this pandemic that is causing pain and sorrow …

Safeguarding our Future made possible for everyone

Life is unpredictable, unforeseen events like accidents and sickness are just around the corner, they can happen anytime and can catch you off-guard. Just as Stephen King said, “there's no harm in hoping for the best as long as you're prepared for the worst.”
Many of us are ignoring the importance of insuring ourselves and our future. The most common reason is money. We may be decided to get ourselves insured but with all the expenses that we have every day, it becomes least of our priority.
This is a common scenario to a regular Filipino worker who earns minimum-wage which is just enough to bring food on the table, and a lot of us are on the same page.
The second reason is trust. A lot of companies offering insurance often sound too good to be true, or we have heard stories from our friends and discouraging us to get insurance, so instead of having fewer worries during times of crisis, we end up stressed out.

This is what is happening right now. With the outbreak of the new Cor…

Maynilad’s mitigating measures to ease possible water shortage this summer 2020

As summer approaches, aside from feverish temperatures, one of the things that make us lose our cool is a water service interruption. In the first half of 2019, we've experienced a water crisis that affected the whole Metro Manila and almost all parts of the country.
Since the crisis has affected everyone, I remember even water refilling stations packed with consumers hoping to fill their water gallons lined up like waiting for a blockbuster movie. It was an unforgettable experience for many that the water concessionaires like Maynilad and Manila Water were flooded with complaints from their consumers.

For Maynilad, it was a challenge to maintain 24/7 supply for all of its consumers as the water level in Angat Dam plunged to below-critical levels. It is from this dam that 91% of Maynilad's raw water supply comes from, and the remaining 9% comes from Laguna Lake.  The below-critical water level in Angat Dam compelled the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) to reduce raw wate…
