SM and BDO Pamaskong Handog 2020 on Dec 13’ in honor of overseas Filipinos

Being away from your family is not easy, and this is what we felt when the entire country went on lockdown due to the pandemic from where we are not able to visit our parents, siblings, kids, or relatives due to the travel restrictions, but can you imagine the feeling of our Overseas Filipinos who have been away from their families even before the pandemic started?  More than heroes they are an inspiration for all of us, and that is why even amid the new normal, BDO and SM Supermalls are finding ways to continue their annual tradition of paying tribute to overseas Filipinos (OFs) and their families during the Christmas season. The companies said that this year, the much anticipated “Pamaskong Handog” will be held as a virtual event; online but still full of star-studded guests and performers and exciting activities that Pamaskong Handog has been known for all these years.     This announcement was made today at a media teleconference, which officially launched Pamaskong Handog 2020: Sa

BDO Prioritizing health of repatriated OFW at PITX

PRIORITIZING HEALTH. Repatriated overseas Filipinos at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) receive hygiene kits before they go back home to their respective provinces. In coordination with BDO Foundation, BDO Remit turned over hundreds of bags of hygiene kits to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 and the PITX, which were then distributed to overseas Filipinos who were sent back here due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. The repatriated overseas Filipinos, who have already tested negative in the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and completed their required quarantine period, were then transported back to their home provinces thru the assistance of OWWA.

PiTaKa program helps OFW achieve their financial goal

Working abroad is not like taking a vacation out of the country and earn money. It may seem an easy way for you to help your family, but a lot of our Kababayans spend years or decades to save and send money back to their loved ones. As a former OFW, one of the goals that we have is to give our family a better life, give them the things we can't afford, and paint our children's smiles with chocolates. With that mindset, we tend to send them whatever we can, up to the point that there is nothing left for us, and that should not be the case. You don't want to work until you've had enough, you need to set goals, save money and prepare for the future of your family, giving them the things that they wanted is not bad but don't spoil them, your family needs you, more than the toys, fancy clothes and chocolates in the Balikbayan Box. Your return is what they will be anticipating most, so you can spend time and enjoy what you've hardly earned abroad with them.
